A light brown haired woman with two book covers.

Indie Authors Uncovered - Meet the person behind the pages - Meet Tamara Fox - Her Craft is Rom-coms with alot of Heart.

Where were you born?

I was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

Where do you live?

I now live in Friesland, The Netherlands.

Do you have fur babies?

Yes

  • 2 Samoyed dogs (Odin (4) and Gaia (1)
  • 3 cats (Thor (european shorthair, 12), Nova (ragdoll/siberian forestcat, 11) and Loki (Scottish fold, 8)

Do you use a pen name?

Yes, Tamara Fox.

Because my real last name are a spanish and 2 dutch last names combined so it gets really long. One of those names means Fox, so that's why I went with that.

What kind of writer are you?

  • Old School Notebook and pen Writer
  • Contemporary Tech Writer (phone/tablet/voice over)
  • Modern Day Laptop/PC Writer

Name one book you loved as a kid - one you loved as a new adult - and one you love now.

  • Harry Potter got me into reading.
  • As new adult I was still reading Harry Potter (the series went on for quite some years),
  • Now I adore Better than the movies by Lynn Painter.

Is there an author you look up to? Or had an influence on your craft?

Multiple. I love Lynn Painter, Ali Hazelwood, Emily Henry, Emily McIntire... I think they all influenced me a little.

How would you describe your craft in one sentence

Rom-coms with alot of heart.

At The Dreamer's Bookshop, we embrace diversity and advocate for invisible illnesses. How do you feel about those topics? Do you include messages in your writing?

I do, as someone with an autoimmune disease my first book was inspired by my illness and all the obstacles it makes me face.

Do you have red lines when it comes to writing/reading?

During the writing of my first book I had no idea what I was doing, but with my second I tried mapping out a structure so I knew where I was going with the story. That really helped.

Was there a review that touched you more than others?

"As someone who tried long distance and pretty much matched this cute couple it felt oh so familiar except after 3 months I said to my husband are we doing this because I knew long distance would have killed it (21 years strong now). Anyway reading this was like opening a box of cherished memories, the what if it's not strong enough to last, am I making the right choice moving? It hit home and reminded me just how strong we can be when we have "the one" to hold on to, your best friend to the end. Add in the chronic illness and the doubts that come, will they still love me, am I enough?
Im so glad that Tamara took the time to write their and mostly her story because it brings so much hope and joy to anyone of us out there with the same questions and feelings because yes we are worth it and yes your relationship will grow stronger and all the added fluffy cuddles definitely help.
I also agree with Kira that fries are everything
Thanks so much for the advanced copy and sharing your memories and love with us x"

Because it makes me happy.

Which book are you most proud of and why?

In Sickness and in Wi-Fi, because it's my story (with a few added fictional factors to make it lighter). And I’m proud I decided to share it.
