Indie Authors Uncovered - Meet the person behind the pages - Meet Cindy Lecaille - Her Craft is emotionally driven.
Where were you born?
I was born in Charleroi, Belgium.
Where do you live?
I now live in Charleroi in Belgium, but honestly, I have lived in many countries; I just came back 6 years ago. I lived in Ireland and in England before.
Do you have fur babies?
Absolutely! I have four cats, each with their own unique personality.
- Louly, the oldest, is the queen of the house and the inspiration behind the Louly Highlights.
- Yuki, my fluffy white cat, may be a little grumpy, but she's impossible not to love and inspired Yuki in Luna and the Birthstones.
- Lily is a rescue cat with a balance condition who has taught me a lot about adaptation and resilience.
- And then there's Figaro, the youngest, whose mischievous antics keep us all entertained.
Do you use a pen name?
No, I don't.
What kind of writer are you?
- Modern Day Laptop/PC Writer
Name one book you loved as a kid - one you loved as a new adult - and one you love now.
- As a child, my favorite book was a collection of unusual fairy tales. I don't remember the title, but I loved how each story carried a meaningful lesson. Looking back, it makes perfect sense considering the kinds of books I enjoy today.
- The book that truly changed my relationship with literature was Et si c'était vrai... by Marc Levy. Since I am bilingual, I read it in French at the time. That novel sparked my love of reading and, I believe, awakened the storyteller in me.
- While there are many books I cherish, one recent favorite is The Hollow by J & J Kelleway. The world-building was exceptional, and the characters were wonderfully complex—somehow both frustrating and lovable at the same time, which is my favorite combination.
Is there an author you look up to? Or had an influence on your craft?
Marc Levy was a huge influence on me, and I loved his books growing up. Nowadays, I read mostly indie authors. I'm particularly eager to dive into The Hollow 2 and the next book in Quinn J. Grover's series, The Awakened Flame.
How would you describe your craft in one sentence
I create emotionally driven stories that blend music, visual storytelling, and imagination to inspire people to move forward, dream bigger, and reconnect with their inner strength.
At The Dreamer's Bookshop, we embrace diversity and advocate for invisible illnesses. How do you feel about those topics? Do you include messages in your writing?
As someone living with Fibromyalgia, I am passionate about advocating for invisible illnesses. Themes of resilience, healing, and personal growth can be found throughout my books, but Persephonia, a Soul's Journey is the work where I share this experience most directly. I also explore my healing journey on YouTube through the Letters from Persephonia series.
Sharing this story matters to me because I know what it means to live with chronic illness, and I want others to know they are not alone. That message is also at the heart of my newest project, UB – The Guardians of Lights, an anime-inspired universe that blends music and urban fantasy to deliver messages of hope, strength, and light for anyone carrying heavy burdens.
Do you have red lines when it comes to writing/reading?
I don't have many absolute red lines when it comes to reading or writing. I believe stories can explore difficult subjects if they serve the narrative and are handled with care. What I struggle with is content that exists purely for shock value or that glorifies cruelty without purpose. Even when I explore dark themes, I like stories to offer meaning, growth, or hope.
Was there a review that touched you more than others?
I had many good reviews for which I am so grateful, but I guess this one stood out :
"This book feels less like a story and more like a quiet companion through healing and growth. From the very first page, the author invites readers into an intimate exploration of pain, resilience, and the profound power of learning to love oneself. A beautiful reminder that even in brokenness, there is growth, and within every soul lies the strength to rise. An inspiring, heartfelt read."
If someone asked you why you write, what would you answer in one sentence?
I write to transform emotions into stories that remind people they are not alone.
Which book are you most proud of and why?
Each of my books holds a special place in my heart for different reasons, so choosing just one is nearly impossible. Persephonia, a Soul's Journey is perhaps the most personal, but I am equally proud of the worlds and messages I continue to build through my newer projects. For me, every story is an important step in my creative journey.
What would you tell an aspiring writer?
Keep writing, keep learning, and most importantly, keep believing in your stories. Every author starts with a dream, and the only way to make it real is to keep moving forward, one word at a time.
What's a wish you have for yourself as an author?
My wish is that my stories find the people who need them and remind them that they are not alone, just as writing those stories has often helped me through my own journey.
What's a wish you have for yourself as a person?
My wish for myself is to keep growing, both as a person and as a creator, and to never lose the curiosity and passion that inspire me to write, create, and tell stories.
Do you have a message for your audience
Thank you for taking the time to step into the worlds I create. If there is one thing I hope you take away from my stories, it is that even when life feels difficult, there is always hope, there is always light, and you are never alone.
